American bakeries range from wholesale operations that supply restaurants to neighborhood shops that sell bread, pastries, cookies and cakes over the counter, and many of them also pour coffee. Bagel shops boil and bake on site and sell out of favorite flavors by late morning; donut shops open before dawn and are often family-run; patisseries and cake studios take custom orders for weddings and birthdays and usually need one to two weeks' notice. Ice cream parlors, gelato shops and frozen yogurt bars are seasonal in the northern states and year-round in the South and on the West Coast. Prices are posted per item, by the dozen or by the pound, and most shops now take cards and mobile payment.

Pittsburgh is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Pittsburgh follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If I had never had Jean-Marc Chatellier croissants before I would've said this was the best bakery in town. Now that he's retired 😭 it is now. I've tried nearly everything they sell and loved it all. They make good coffee, too.

This is our favorite bakery! They have the most delicious bread, challah, and cookies. The atmosphere inside is very cozy, and it’s a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee or hot chocolate with some freshly baked treats. The staff is always very friendly and welcoming. We absolutely love this place!

What a gem of a bakery! I tried rhubarb pie for the first time here and it completely won me over, absolutely delicious. The coffee was great too, and they have plenty of seating which is a nice bonus. The constant stream of locals says it all. This place clearly has a devoted following. Highly recommend stopping in!

Our first time here and oh my goodness, definitely not the last. Everything was incredible. The croissants are huge and flaky and buttery. The chocolate rye cookie totally blew my mind. It has such a deep dark chocolate flavor and the texture is perfect. I really wish I had ordered more. Chocolate chip cookie also amazing. The sourdough bread was excellent, chewy crust, and it made perfect toast for breakfast. I'm already planning what to order next time we go. I would highly recommend !!

I really enjoyed the variety of items on the menu and the cozy indoor seating area. Everything looked so inviting and well put together. I also tried a cardamom bun that was out of this world β€” soft, fragrant, and perfectly sweet. Truly a treat! If you stop by, do yourself a favor and grab a few pastries. They’re so good that it’s totally worth indulging a little!
